Neoprene Double Sided Timing Belts — Engineered for Excellence

Our neoprene double sided timing belts mold trapezoidal teeth onto both faces of the belt body, allowing a single belt to drive multiple pulleys — including pulleys rotating in opposite directions — from one continuous loop. Built on the same oil- and ozone-resistant neoprene compound as our standard rubber range, this belt line brings that proven durability to serpentine and reverse-drive layouts common in multi-shaft general industrial equipment.

Material & Construction

Trapezoidal teeth are molded symmetrically onto both the inner and outer faces of a chloroprene neoprene rubber body, with tension cords (fiberglass or steel, by load class) centered through the belt's mid-plane to provide balanced support to tooth engagement from either side. The dual-face molding process requires tighter cavity control than single-sided belts to ensure both tooth rows mesh with equal accuracy.

Design & Performance

Because both faces carry usable teeth, a single belt loop can wrap around a serpentine arrangement of pulleys — some driven from the outer face, others from the inner face — enabling one motor to drive multiple shafts, some rotating in reverse relative to others, without additional idler-and-reversing hardware. The neoprene compound retains its familiar oil, ozone, and moderate-temperature resistance on both faces equally.

Manufacturing Excellence

Manufactured under ISO 9001 quality controls with both tooth faces measured independently for pitch accuracy, since dual-face belts must maintain synchronization between both rows of teeth simultaneously. Compound batches undergo the same oil- and ozone-resistance testing as our standard neoprene range.

Customization & Flexibility

Available in T5 and T10 pitch, with matching tooth pitch on both faces as standard, and custom lengths engineered around your specific serpentine pulley layout. Our engineering team can help lay out a multi-pulley drive path from your shaft positions and rotation requirements.

Applications Across Industries

Our neoprene double sided timing belts are deployed in:

  • Multi-Shaft Conveyor Systems – single-motor drives to multiple parallel shafts.
  • Textile Machinery – reverse-rotation roller drives.
  • Packaging Equipment – serpentine multi-station synchronization.
  • Printing Equipment – counter-rotating roller drives.
  • Agricultural Machinery – multi-shaft implement drives.
  • General Industrial Automation – reverse-drive auxiliary mechanisms.

One motor, one belt, multiple shafts — including ones that need to turn the opposite way. Double-sided neoprene construction brings proven rubber-belt reliability to layouts a single-sided belt simply can't handle. Two-sided drive, one dependable belt.

Installation & Maintenance Tips

Proper installation and routine maintenance maximize belt life and drive reliability.

Installation Best Practices

  • Map your full serpentine pulley layout before ordering to confirm belt length and wrap direction.
  • Verify both belt faces mesh correctly with their respective pulleys during trial fitting.
  • Align all pulleys in the serpentine path precisely, since misalignment compounds across multiple pulleys.
  • Set tension appropriate for the total pulley count and load distribution across the loop.
  • Confirm rotation direction at each pulley matches the intended drive layout before full-speed operation.

Maintenance & Inspection

  • Inspect both tooth faces periodically, since wear can develop independently on each side.
  • Check synchronization accuracy across all driven pulleys at scheduled intervals.
  • Keep the full belt path clean of debris that could affect either face's engagement.
  • Re-tension carefully, accounting for the effect on all pulleys in the serpentine layout.
  • Replace the full loop if either face shows significant wear, since both faces share one belt body.

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to the most common questions about our neoprene double sided timing belts.

1. What is a double-sided timing belt used for?+
It allows one continuous belt loop to drive multiple pulleys, including pulleys that need to rotate in the opposite direction, from a single motor.
2. How is this different from a standard single-sided belt?+
Standard belts have teeth on only one face; double-sided belts have teeth on both faces, enabling serpentine routing through multiple drive and reverse-rotation pulleys.
3. Can you help design my serpentine pulley layout?+
Yes, our engineering team can help lay out pulley positions and belt routing based on your shaft locations and rotation requirements.
4. What load rating should I use for a multi-pulley layout?+
Load capacity should be evaluated per pulley station in your specific layout; contact us for a combined load path calculation.
5. Are these belts as oil-resistant as standard neoprene belts?+
Yes, the same chloroprene compound formulation is used, providing equal oil and ozone resistance on both faces.
6. What pitch sizes are available?+
T5 and T10, matched identically on both belt faces.
7. Can this belt handle more than two driven pulleys?+
Yes, though service life decreases somewhat as pulley count increases; our team can advise on optimal layouts.
8. What tension member should I choose?+
Fiberglass for lighter multi-pulley layouts, steel wire for heavier-duty serpentine drives.
9. What is the typical service life?+
Typically 5,000-10,000 operating hours depending on pulley count, load, and duty cycle.
10. Can I get a custom length for my specific layout?+
Yes, belts are commonly engineered to an exact length for a specific serpentine pulley arrangement.
11. What are typical lead times?+
Standard sizes ship in 5-7 business days; custom serpentine-layout belts require 15-20 working days.
12. Can I request a sample for a layout trial fit?+
Yes, our team can supply sample belts for trial fitting on your pulley layout.
